Robert found design somewhat obliquely, majoring in Art & Design History as an undergraduate. His love of furniture lead him to an internship with Memphis Milano artist and designer, Peter Shire, where he showed in galleries across Southern California. From there, he received his MFA in Design from the Cranbrook Academy of Art where he explored ideas of domesticity and object culture. He has worked with a number of domestic leading contract furniture manufactures, as well as a host of international companies. He has shown in galleries and his work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).
